I The Doctrinal Paradigm: The Bible As the Word of God This paradigm is concerned with the authority and claims to truth of the biblical text for the Church and Christian faith. It conceives of the authority and truth claims of the Bible in ahistorical, dogmatic terms.

III Toward a Feminist Model of Biblical Interpretation To make the systematically articulated feminist experience of the church of women central to biblical interpretation and theological reflection requires a paradigm shift in biblical interpretation, a shift from understanding the Bible as archetypal myth to understanding it as historical prototype. In the context of this paradigm shift a feminist model of critical interpretation is emerging. This interpretive model of a critical feminist theology of liberation is in the process of developing the following four structural elements which seem to emerge as constitutive for a feminist biblical interpretation.

In feminist liturgy and celebrations women retell the story of the Passover or of the Last Supper; we re-vision the liturgy of advent or the baptismal ritual. In ever new images and symbols we seek to rename the God of the Bible and the significance of Jesus. We not only spin tales about the voyages of Prisca, the missionary, or about Junia, the apostle, but also dance Sarah's circle and experience prophetic enthusiasm.
